Digging your way to riches through Internet Marketing, Affiliate Marketing, Online Marketing or whatever the heck you want to call it.

First, permit me to tell you a story. There was once a period in America they called the gold rush. A lot of people headed to wherever there was news of gold. They were lured by the prospect of instant riches, fortune and adventure.

People were enamored of it and sold whatever they had to buy pickaxes, shovels, tools and other mining gear. Wealthy barons joined in on the fun and built railways, hotels, gambling dens, brothels, taverns, tool shops and more. 

I have two of these 

Some found gold. Most did not. 

The curious thing is that the people who regularly made the money are the ones who provided services to the people who were looking for the gold. 

The inn keepers, the tavern owners, the railroad tycoons and the blacksmiths. 

Fast Forward to Now

We have an Internet that is highly commercialized that you can expect everyone and anyone to sell you something without you even noticing it. 

Is that good? 

Yes and No. It stimulates the economy and provides additional income for people all over the world. Never before in the history of humanity has there been an opportunity for people from all walks of life to join in on the newest gold rush. 

On the other hand, it's not so good if you want to buy something and you happen to read an article or a review that was spinned by some writer in the Philippines, India or Pakistan who doesn't really know about the product. How would they know any better if they haven't really experienced the product or service?

They call this new fangled gold rush, Internet Marketing or Online Marketing or Affiliate Marketing. Do they sound complex and sophisticated? Well, they do.

But, if you dig deeper as the old gent below probably did during the heydays of the Gold Rush, you'll find that starting the process is really a simple undertaking. Some people just want to make it more complicated and more confusing by using sophisticated terms and words to make it appear harder to understand than it really is.

Before I waste any more of your time, here's where you can find true gold.

In short, help other people out.

A lot of people are already doing this. A guy with a funny mix of a Western and Chinese name, claims that he is making money by telling people how he makes money. I believe this.

Now, in all honesty, I'm also dipping my toes on Affiliate Marketing and I have yet to make a single sale. There, that's the truth (as of June 30, 2010).

But I do make my own money by helping other people promote their promotions.

Yes, I write about things I haven't seen, touched or heard of before. But not without giving it a healthy amount of research. If I had the money to buy the things that I write about - I will definitely buy them.


Now where do YOU go from here? 

I'll take a risk and not put affiliate marketing links on this particular post. I will leave it up to you to enjoy looking for great resources on how to help people out. There are soooo many struggling affiliate marketers out there, who are in need of help. 

You can find them in forums, blogs, and even Yahoo Answers. 

Be creative and try to put yourself in the position of that struggling person we are talking about. 

Think about what you can do more than what you cannot do then put it to good use.
